History
Janssens NV specialises on production of garden greenhouses, interior gardens, hothouses and aluminium conservatories with high-quality thermal insulation, and their distribution to wholesalers.
Two for all: the managing directors of Janssens NV are René and Peter Janssens. René, the son of the company founder Constant Janssens, joined the family business in the late 1970s. His son Peter came into the company in the 1990s.
On 12 September, 1946 Constant Janssens established a cabinetmaker’s firm in the town of Lier, called 'Janssens'. From 1956 onwards, the firm evolved into a construction company making rounded wooden arches used not only for greenhouses, but also for sports halls and factories. It was at that period that the Janssens company established a strong reputation. The workshops covered a total area of 300 m². Due to the lack of space, the company moved in 1960 to new premises located on Mechelsesteenweg in Lier, with a business space of 1250 m² that doubled within just two years.
Son René strengthened the family business in the 1970s. Under his direction, the traditional wood was replaced by aluminium, laying the basis for today's production of greenhouses, summerhouses, swimming pool roofs and recreational hothouses. In 1984, the company began exporting its products to numerous European countries. The universal range of products penetrated the international marketplace successfully, and exports became an important pillar of the company. The company was developing efficiently and followed up this tendency. The machinery was updated considerably in 1996 with the acquisition of the latest generation of aluminium joinery machines, while the design and development department was completely automated. René's son, Peter Janssens, strengthened the company, supervising the engineering department, continuing its technical development.
A new millennium dawned. The steady growth of sales continued, accompanied by the capturing of new export markets. Some of the machinery underwent further automation in 2009 to secure superior quality and precision.
The conservatory market is a fairly active one, with the construction of greenhouses becoming more and more popular. The sustained development of the company's construction activities resulted in 2011 in the demerger of the private construction department. The operation area was taken over in its entirety, and Veranda's Janssens BVBA became an exclusive distributor of conservatories in Belgium. Janssens NV now was able to concentrate on its core business as a manufacturer: building and selling greenhouses and hothouses to wholesalers worldwide.
In 2016, the factory floor was extended again. At present, the business premises cover approximately 37.000 m².
With more than 65 years of experience behind, Janssens has evolved into one of the leading manufacturers of greenhouses, interior gardens and hothouses.

Glazing
Tempered safety glass 4 mm
All Janssens greenhouses are made of 4-mm hardened glass by default.
- The glass does not require technical maintenance and has a long service life.
- This glass is 6 times stronger than the usual one and is more resistant to wear. This minimizes the risk of breakage. In addition, the glass breaks into thousands of fragments, so the risk of injury, if it is broken, is very low. All the edges are polished to ensure easy assembly and to avoid cuts. Quality and safety is our first concern!
Polycarbonate 10 mm
In addition to tempered glass, Janssens provides a possibility to choose 10-mm polycarbonate sheets for glazing of our aluminium greenhouses.
Polycarbonate has several advantages over glass and is popular with the local governments.
- A significant advantage is additional thermal insulation in winter
- This kind of glazing diffuses light (reducing sun exposure), providing certain UV protection
- Polycarbonate is not so fragile and lightweight as glass, which can be an advantage in transportation and assembly.
